Hi Steph,
I checked out your slideshow that you presented in portland oregon a few months ago and was totally inspired. I had just returned from yosemite, where i was introduced to climbing and its history there. I read about harding and robins and seen clips of potters insane ascent of el cap […]

Tuolomne was great, but I missed Rifle too much. So I grabbed Fletch and drove east last Wednesday. A quick stop to mow the lawn in Moab, and then back on I-70 to Rifle. In the last few years, I’ve made a lot of new friends who are some of the best […]

Outer Limits, Yosemite
Soloing is something special. My head can get too filled with things, and free soloing brings my focus down all the way. Only the rock, only my body. Those are the only thoughts. Sometimes in life, I need that place so badly.

Three pitches, several steep bolted routes (and big hats-off to the mostly Utahn first-ascensionists who […]

Hi Steph,
it’s kind of a funny feeling I must say - no more than a year ago, I saw you for the first time in Masters of Stone and was thrilled by your solo climbs in Indian Creek. Then, I read some articles and have watched several movies about climbing in Yosemite and people like […]

A lot of climbers kind of thrive on the weird cartoon war that has always gone on between climbers and Yosemite rangers, for some reason. When I’m in Moab, I do all the exact same things I do in Yosemite (climb, walk around with my dog, eat, sleep, go to the Post Office, do […]

Contrary to popular belief, sport climbing can be f*%#king terrifying!
Yes, I know, I’m supposed to be in my car, driving from Moab to Yosemite. To see my husband and dogchild. But then I started thinking about how much I love Rifle, and how much I’m going to miss climbing there this summer when […]

I’m Steph Davis. I mostly live in Moab, Utah, in a very cool 1968 doublewide in a quiet little neighborhood near the City Park, just off Main Street.
