Eiger Birds

Remember kids, don’t try this in the United States, “land of the free.” It’s illegal to fly from the cliffs in America’s National Parks.

Why? I really couldn’t tell you. But the law they use (aggressively) to persecute base jumping, a non-motorized, low-impact sport, is something that was written up to prevent aerial delivery during World War II.

What I think? How sad, to be so full of fear, that you have to clip someone else’s wings.

    Dear Steph,
It is a very nice video, thanks for sharing it with us!

May I ask, what happened with your flying gear that was lost by United?

    Cheers from your fan Irina.

  2. Steph Davis says:

Thank you Irina! This video is memorializing that gear, which has never been seen again since the flight home from Zurich, after that trip to Switzerland…..

United did finally reimburse us for all the lost equipment. The next wingsuit I will be flying will be a red Five Ten Vampire 3, and also two new Five Ten canopies! That is very exciting ๐Ÿ™‚
But since BASE gear is all custom, it takes months and months to produce. It will be ready in March.

It’s been a long wait, but the new gear is going to be so nice!

GoPro? I recognized the little black dot (which makes me crazy) on the sun.

Dangit, Steph! I try not to watch too much flying when it’s not flying weather here and I know it might be a few more weeks. Couldn’t resist, though…thanks for posting. ๐Ÿ™‚ Looks like fun!! Now to be patient…

  7. […] Professional rock climber Steph Davis, who has become deeply involved with base jumping and wingsuits, tells us why, among other things, we’ll want to resist the urge to flail our arms and legs wildly next time we jump off a cliff. (extra video: climbing thousands of feet without ropes, wingsuit flying) […]
