Hello From Canada

Hi Steph,
As a female all around climber, you are someone I admire greatly. Especially your Salathe redpoint! So intense. Love the footage you posted on your blog while on the route. That is extremely inspirational to me. You are very bold and talented indeed!

I will be living in my truck again this summer with my boyfriend/climbing partner. I applied to the canadian guide school this year but I was short on the amount of trad climbs at 5.10c I needed. So this year Im going to climb with more focus so I will be accepted next year.

I have both of your books and enjoy them very, very much. I was wondering if you could recommend any of your favorite books to me? I’m in need of something to read this summer and I would love to know what books you’ve loved in the past.

Also, if you were to define love how would you describe it?

You are wonderful, grounded, smart, compassionate, loving and have boundaries, which I admire. Thanks for being you.

Hope you’re having a fun day. Happy spring.

Hi Catherine,
Thanks for writing to me 🙂 Some of my favorite authors are Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Haruki Murakami, Isabel Allende, Banana Yoshimoto, Mark Helprin and Barbara Kingsolver. The Cloud Atlas is a great book, and anything about the Shackleton expedition.
How to describe love…?? I think love is the strongest positive emotion, and there is no limit to it.
I hope you enjoy your summer and good luck with your guide exam!
Steph

I am a frequent reader of your blog and a Spanish teacher. I am reading a Murakami novel for pleasure right now, and will wake up tomorrow morning to teach a Márquez short story in class tomorrow.
