Thanks

Hi Steph

This is really just a thanks, one of a number that I have written to friends and others, all different for various reasons.

For quite a while I had sort of lost my way with regards to how I felt about myself and how I looked after myself.

One day back at the beginning of the year I fired up Twitter and after a very short time I stumbled across a video of a lady named Steph shared by prana.

I guess I was touched by your openness and the passion you show in the way that you live your life, love what you do, and of course the obvious love you have for your friend Cajun, and it really was the last wheel in the clockwork to get me motivated.

Since February I have slowly but steadily lost 12 kg (that’s about 26lb 7 oz) just through change of eating habits and gentle exercise (if you can call playing squash gentle exercise). I started my journey at 99.9 kg and am now down to 87.8 kg. I’m looking to get back to my ideal weight at approx. 79 kg. I’m motivated to get back into many things and have even created a small ledge to help get some strength back and practice crimping – at 53 the strength in my forearms is coming back a fair bit slower than when I was younger 🙂

One of those things I still can’t figure out is where you get the time to do anything when you always seem so busy doing everything…

I find it refreshing that you make the time to respond to tweets or comments on blogs etc. and that you are in touch with so many of the people that ask your opinion etc.

So I guess I should just say thanks, thanks for being you and living as you do and for all those interesting and inspirational posts. I will keep commenting on your blogs or tweets as I have done, mostly tongue in cheek, but some serious (like the Big Wall / Backcountry Bathrooms).

Be safe – but don’t live safe.. you know what I mean

Regards,
Steve

Hi Steve,
Congrats on what you’ve done, and I really appreciate your writing to me. It does mean a lot to hear, and it makes me feel so good to know that you came across some of my stuff at the right time–that’s really the reason I want to share. Thanks too for noticing that I am super busy all the time! I try hard to stay in touch and make time for people. Instead of having a normal job, I have multiple jobs I’ve created and that require energy all the time–as a result, I literally don’t have time off ever which may surprise some people who think I just do nothing but climb and base jump all the time 🙂 But I love everything I’m doing and I am lucky to be juggling between so many amazing pursuits, and very lucky to be here.
Best to you!
Steph
