Hello From Japan

Dear Steph,

My name is Kyoko Tsuchida from Japan. I have read your book, “High Infatuation” and was very very inspired by it.

I started climbing two years ago and have been hooked ever since. I only go outside to climb about once a month but I love how I get in touch with nature and the feeling of exploring the rock itself. However, there are times when I just feel chickened out when I try a challenging route.

Your book has inspired me as you describe about challenging different type of climbing; from short route to big wall, as well as accepting your weakness but not letting that stop you from exploring and challenging. It is so interesing how I came across your book as I am making a career transition right now and also trying to make a bigger leap in my climbing.

I am looking forward to your talk at Tokyo Museum of Contemporary Art on July 30th.

I would like to ask if you are already planning to translate your book into Japanese. Is anyone working on it or do you have any plan to do so? If not, I would be very much interested in doing it.

Thank you for reading my mail and have a safe trip to Japan 🙂

Kyoko Tsuchida

Dear Kyoko,
Thank you for writing to me! I am so excited to visit Japan for the first time!
I do not know of anyone planning to do a Japanese translation of High Infatuation, but the Mountaineers Press is the publisher, and maybe they have some thoughts about that.
So maybe I will see you at the Tokyo Museum 🙂
Steph
